From July 26, the direct route from Shenzhen to Nyingchi, Xizang was officially opened. This route is not only a popular tourist route opened by Shenzhen Airport to cater to summer travel, but also Shenzhen Airport’s eighth route connecting one of Shenzhen’s paired assistance areas. The opening of the route will further promote summer tourism consumption, enrich citizens’ summer travel options, promote the joint development of Shenzhen and Xizang, enhance cooperation and exchanges between Shenzhen and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Nyingchi in the fields of economy, trade, tourism and culture, and promote high-quality and collaborative development between Guangdong and Xizang.

It is understood that the “Shenzhen-Nyingchi” direct route is operated by China Southern Airlines, with three round-trip flights per week, departures from Shenzhen on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and departures from Nyingchi on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. This is the first direct flight route from Shenzhen to Xizang opened by China Southern Airlines in the past three years, significantly shortening the flight time between Shenzhen and Nyingchi from 6 hours to about 4 hours.

Nyingchi is known as “Xizang Jiangnan” and “Pearl of Snowland” for its beautiful scenery and a long history and culture. Taking the opening of the direct route from Shenzhen to Nyingchi as an opportunity, the theme activity of “Shenzhen-Nyingchi Tourism Month” was launched simultaneously. The tourism department will continue to optimize the supply of summer tourism products during the tourism month to meet the multi-level and diversified tourism needs of Shenzhen citizens and tourists.

The data shows that since the start of the summer transportation in July, the air travel market has continued to heat up. As of the end of July, the number of summer flights and passengers at Shenzhen Airport this year has exceeded that in the same period in 2019, reaching an all-time high for the same period. To meet the demand of the summer travel market, Shenzhen Airport has joined hands with major airlines to continuously increase capacity and expand route network since the beginning of July. As of the end of this month, it has opened and increased flights for nearly 20 domestic and international passenger routes. In specific, it opened three domestic passenger routes from Shenzhen to Manzhouli, Baishan and Zhaotong, and increased flights for more than ten popular summer routes from Shenzhen to Hailar, Qingdao, Baotou, Lanzhou, Chengdu, Xining, Jining, Xishuangbanna, Kunming, Wenzhou, Hailar, Urumqi and Changchun. In terms of international routes, it successively resumed the passenger routes from Shenzhen to Moscow and Osaka, and increased flights to Jakarta and Bangkok.

Shenzhen Airport further plans to open direct international passenger routes to Barcelona, Spain and Milan, Italy, and continuously increase flights for popular domestic and international routes to better meet summer travel needs and provide more choices and convenience for citizens.
