Its annual cargo and mail throughput, flight volume, and domestic passenger volume surpassed historical peaks; and its single-day passenger volume, flight volume, and total number of cargo destinations also set new records. Overall, Shenzhen Airport outperformed expectations, with domestic business recovery outpacing international business, particularly with domestic passenger throughput growing by nearly 7% compared with 2019, securing its first-ever second-place ranking nationwide.
Currently, the approved flight capacity of Shenzhen Airport has been raised to 65 flights/hour in peak hours, topping domestic airports with dual-runway operations. Besides, the airport has recovered and expanded 22 international and regional passenger routes from Shenzhen to London, Paris, Moscow, Barcelona, and Milan with a total of 35 international and regional passenger destinations throughout the year, recovering connectivity with all five continents. The scheduled outbound and inbound passenger flights are over 670 every week, and the flight frequency of eight international routes to and from London, Rome, and Singapore have exceeded that of 2019.
Shenzhen Airport’s cargo business also maintained rapid growth. In 2023, the total annual cargo and mail throughput reached 1.6 million tons, representing an increase of 6.2% year on year. Both domestic cargo business and cross-border e-commerce business achieved double-digit growth during this period.
