China’s First 24/7 Customs-Clearance International Cargo Terminal Officially Launches at Shenzhen Airport
At midnight on April 19, the first batch of goods smoothly entered the terminal under the new 24-hour customs-clearance operation mode, marking the official launch of Shenzhen Airport’s Shenchang International Cargo Terminal as the nation’s first international cargo facility with round-the-clock customs clearance.
After one year of operational trials and refinement since its opening, the Shenchang International Cargo Terminal, under the supervision of customs authorities and with technical support from the Data Management Center, successfully implemented the 24-hour clearance model. Key measures included deploying an outbound vehicle control system to meet stringent customs requirements, enhancing the efficiency of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), integrating critical clearance node data, and breaking down data barriers. The launch of this model coincides with the first anniversary of the terminal’s operation.
With this new operational mode in place, import and export goods will no longer be restricted by customs gate operating hours, significantly reducing wait times and improving turnover efficiency. This advancement meets the high-timeliness demands of cross-border e-commerce and perishable goods while supporting the expansion of high-value-added logistics services, such as precision instruments and temperature-controlled pharmaceutical shipments.
Additionally, the 24/7 clearance model will serve as an “expressway” for the rapid transshipment of air cargo imports and exports for foreign trade enterprises across the Greater Bay Area. It further strengthens Shenzhen’s competitiveness in international air transport, attracting more global and domestic airlines and logistics agents to choose Shenzhen as a transit hub or destination. This initiative injects new momentum into the city’s foreign trade economy.
