Shenzhen Airport Wins Record-breaking 7 CAPSE Innovation Awards

The 8th CAPSE Innovation Awards, under the theme “All Innovations in Civil Aviation Deserve to be Seen,” concluded on April 16-17 at Wuxi Shuofang Airport. Shenzhen Airport achieved an unprecedented milestone by securing seven Innovation Awards and four Nomination Awards, setting a new record for the highest number of awards won in the competition's history and emerging as the most awarded aviation entity at this year’s event.

This year’s competition attracted 857 submissions from over 90 aviation organizations, with 157 entries advancing to the finals after rigorous evaluation. Ultimately, 85 projects from more than 60 organizations received Innovation Awards, while 72 were granted Nomination Awards.

Shenzhen Airport’s award-winning projects spanned multiple domains including service innovation, process optimization, and smart logistics. Notably, the “Shenzhen Airport Mega Membership Program” revolutionized membership management by integrating passenger travel data for precise profiling, driving growth in non-aeronautical revenue. The “Digital Twin-powered Satellite Hall Facility Management Process Restructuring” project transformed equipment maintenance from reactive repairs to proactive predictive maintenance. The “Short-Distance Assurance” initiative pioneered a point-based compensation system for taxi drivers serving short-haul routes at the aviation hub, redeemable for express lane access. The “Ride-hailing Full-chain Management” project established China’s first comprehensive ride-hailing management system featuring appointment-based pickups, intelligent dispatch, and government-enterprise collaboration. The “Door-to-Door Pet Travel Service” introduced the nation’s first pet lounge, offering comfortable, safe, and convenient end-to-end travel services for pets traveling by air. The “Breaking Bottlenecks to Global Access” project innovated an air transport system for cross-border e-commerce sensitive goods, solving a longstanding industry challenge. Lastly, the “Air Pre-warehouse Cargo Flow Optimization” project achieved full-process transparency, significantly enhancing customer satisfaction.

As an eight-time consecutive winner of CAPSE’s “Best Airport” award, Shenzhen Airport has consistently advanced smart aviation initiatives, leveraging AI technologies to enhance operational management, passenger services, and logistics support. Looking ahead, Shenzhen Airport will continue to drive innovation, exploring more civil aviation solutions with Chinese characteristics, setting industry benchmarks in service quality, operational efficiency, and technological empowerment.
